# 2.18 - Command Line Script Type

Command Line Script Type — Appvance IQ documentation.

# Command Line Script Type Reference

Use this article when a scenario or service workflow needs to run an approved command-line script type in a controlled AIQ execution environment.

## What changed in this article

- Scoped command-line script execution as a controlled capability, not a generic shell-execution recommendation.
- Added checks for script ownership, execution host, working directory, arguments, environment variables, timeout, exit code, stdout, stderr, and least privilege.
- Added warnings to avoid secrets in command arguments or output logs.

## Validation workflow

1. Confirm the command-line script is approved and safe for the target execution host.
2. Validate path, arguments, permissions, timeout, expected output, and failure behavior in a small run.
3. Review exit code, stdout, stderr, and AIQ logs before using the script in a shared or scheduled workflow.

**Review note:** This page now aligns with the Service Suite command-execution cleanup from earlier batches.
