Validate PDFs and Other File Types in AIQ
Recommended guidance
AIQ can validate downloaded or generated content such as PDFs and other files when the test defines what should be checked. Choose the validation method based on the file type, expected content, dynamic values, and evidence requirements.
Validation options
- Text extraction for PDFs or documents when content must match expected values.
- Metadata checks such as file name, size, page count, or generated timestamp rules.
- Binary or checksum checks when the exact file must match.
- Visual or screenshot-based checks only when content extraction is not sufficient.
Best practices
- Control dynamic values such as dates, IDs, and totals before comparing files.
- Store expected reference files in a reviewed repository or approved project location.
- Verify download location, browser policy, and file permissions.
- Attach clear evidence when file validation fails.
