Creating a Performance Scenario (Appvance Designer Script 3.0)

Pre-Requisite

Evaluation Guide: Recording a Appvance Designer Script from Designer 3.0

DB Connection should be tested successfully in Results page.(Global Options → Preferences → Results tab → Click Enabled Checkbox → Click Accept → Connection Status should be Successful)

reating your first Performance Scenario

1. Open a browser, navigate to your Appvance IQ URL and login using your credentials

3. Select the Build option
   Scenario Editor appears
   
4. Select File > New
   
   
5. From the Info tab, click Please select a Test Type box and select Performance Test
6. From the Test Management tab, Select one of the Options from Completion Type for ex:- Total Duration, Provide the Total Duration in Minutes
   
7. From the Test Cases tab, click Add a Test Case Execution
   
8. Enter a name for the test case in the Test Case Namebox
   
9. Enter a name for the script in the Script Namebox
   
10. Click the Script Type box and select Appvance Test Designer Script
    
11. Click Browse (to the right of the Resource box)
    The Open window appears
    
12. Select the Appvance Test Designer Script (file extension .ds) created in the prior Getting Started Guide, and click Open
    The selected file appears in the Resource box
    
13. Click the Browserbox and select the browser to use for playback
    
14. Click Save
    
15. The test case appears in the Iteration 1list
16. If necessary provide the Number of Users, you want to run the performance test in that duration.
17. If think time(wait time) is required between each of the steps while running the Performance test, Go to options tab(below Resources) and Under scenario Options, select the Options from Think Time between steps (Default, No think time, Fixed, Random).

    

18. From the Ramp-up Setting, we can control the launching time of the browser (If Scenario is having more than 2 Users).

    

19. Select File> Save
    The Savewindow appears, displaying the Appvance Test Designer controller file system; not the local machine

20. Browse to the desired directory, enter a name for the scenario in the FileNamebox and click Save

21. To playback, click Play Scenario
    The scenario execution status launches in a new tab, and a new browser window opens, using the browser indicated in the scenario configuration, which executes the specified Appvance Test Designer script.
    
22. When the Status displays Execution done, click Test case(s) Executions
    
23. Select the first result in the Test case(s) Executions list
    The output details, errors, requests & responses display on the corresponding tabs
    
24. Click the Output tab (left set of tabs, below Live Reports) to view additional reports pertaining to this scenario execution
