Operational Test Data with DPLs in AIQ

Use DPLs to manage operational test data for Scenario Editor and Service Suite assets when tests need repeatable, controlled, or generated values. Treat DPLs as part of the test design, not as incidental data pasted into individual steps.

Planning checklist

  • Define which steps consume each data value.
  • Choose static, CSV/file-backed, synthetic, dynamic, or service-backed data based on the test objective.
  • Document reset, cleanup, ownership, and environment-specific differences.
  • Avoid unsecured secrets, production customer data, and values that cannot be reproduced.

Validation workflow

  1. Run a small data sample before scaling execution.
  2. Confirm each row or generated value maps to the expected scenario behavior.
  3. Review failures for data exhaustion, malformed values, duplicates, or environment mismatch.
  4. Keep DPL changes under review when they affect regression results.
