AWS WorkSpace and Google Chrome

AWS WorkSpaceWorkSpaces is a cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutionservice that allowslets users to access their desktop applications and data from any devicedevices with internet access. When AWS WorkSpaces is used for AIQ testing, review the browser’s third-party-cookie and Chrome policy settings.

Enable third-party cookies

There are considerations forEnable third-party cookies and policy settings when using Amazon WorkSpace and AIQ.

Enabling Third-party Cookies

AIQ requires third-party cookies are enabled in the web browser being used forto testing.record Enablingand third-partyrun cookiesAIQ istest vital forscenarios. AIQ tests becausemay it allows the web browserneed to store and retrieve cookies from domains other than the onedomain beingcurrently visited.open. This is important becausefor manyauthentication websitesand other workflows that rely on third-partycross-domain cookies for tracking, advertising, and authentication purposes. Without the ability to access these cookies, AIQ tests may not be able to accurately simulate user behavior on the website being tested.cookies.

For example, supposeif youthe are testing a website thatapplication uses a third-party authenticationidentity providerprovider, to log users in. Ifdisabling third-party cookies arecan not enabled, prevent the browser willfrom not be able to storestoring the provider’s authentication cookie from the provider, and thecause login process mayto fail. Similarly,It ifcan aalso websiteprevent reliesaccurate simulation of workflows that depend on third-party tracking cookiescookies.

to track
  • Simulate user behavior, a test that does not enable third-party cookies may not accurately simulate user behavior and may produce incorrect results.

Here are some specific details why third-party cookies need to be enabled on the browsers that are used to record test scenarios for AIQ:

    • Simulate user behavior: Cookies are used to store user-specific information, such asincluding login credentials or session IDs.

Preserve the session state:state whichso meansa that usersuser can return to the application laterand continue.

Exercise new-user and continuereturning-user wherescenarios.Improve they left off. By allowing cookies, we can simulate this behavior and ensure that the application behaves correctly during performance-test execution.

Testing different user scenarios: Cookies can be used to simulate different user scenarios, such as testing the application as a new user or a returning user. With the cookies enabled we can simulate different user scenarios and test different parts of the application under different conditions.

For performance: they can be used to speed up the test executionefficiency by avoiding repeated login steps when the needworkflow to repeat certain steps, such as logging in, during each test run.
