Designer: file:// Protocol Support

Appvance Designer does not support automating pages opened directly using the file:// protocol.

Solution

To automate a webserverlocal toHTML openpage yourwith pagesDesigner, andserve thenthe accesspage through a web server instead of opening it through Designer. Designer will not able to automate pagesdirectly with the filefile:// protocol.

  1. Start a web server that serves the directory containing your HTML pages.
  2. Open the page using its HTTP or HTTPS URL, for example:
    http://localhost:8080/index.html
  3. Open the page in Designer using the web server URL.
  4. Create or run your automation against the page served through HTTP/HTTPS.

Note: Opening the page directly from the local file system using a URL such as file:///C:/path/to/page.html is not supported for Designer automation.
