Extract Table Content in Scenario Editor

Last reviewed: September 21, 2026

Use this article when a Scenario Editor test must read table rows, columns, or specific cell values from a web application.

  • Prefer stable table selectors and accessible labels when available.
  • Decide whether the test needs one cell, one row, or the full table.
  • Account for pagination, sorting, filters, and lazy-loaded rows.

Validation workflow

  1. Identify the table and the row/column criteria before extracting values.
  2. Use stable locators for headers and cells rather than visual position alone.
  3. Normalize whitespace and formatting before comparing values.
  4. Validate pagination or scrolling if the expected row is not initially visible.
  5. Store extracted values only when they are needed by later steps or assertions.

Note: If the application exposes the same data through an API, use that source for setup or cross-checking when appropriate.
