Evaluate Linear Scalability

Evaluate Linear Scalability

Linear scalability compares how the application responds as load increases. A scalable system should increase throughput predictably while keeping response times and errors within acceptable limits.

What to compare

  • Virtual users or request volume at each load level.
  • Throughput and transaction completion rate.
  • Response time trends, including percentile behavior.
  • Error rate and application or infrastructure saturation signals.
  1. Run controlled tests at increasing load levels.
  2. Keep test data, environment, and scenario mix consistent between runs.
  3. Compare steady-state periods instead of ramp-up or unstable intervals.
  4. Identify the load level where throughput stops increasing or errors rise.
