Traffic

What is Traffic?

Traffic is Appvance IQ's HTTP traffic recorder. For load or performance testing of a Mobilemobile application, an Appium Appium-based approach is far too resource-consuming,consuming. A better solution is to simulate application traffic by sending the requests and verifying the responses.

InTo order to sendcapture those packages, requests, AppvanceAIQ uses an HTTP Proxyproxy tothat capturerecords the packagestraffic from a browser or mobile device and transformtransforms those packagesit into a HAR script withcontaining the requests and responses. This static HAR script can then be usedreplayed to run a performance/load test.test, without writing a single line of test code.

How does it work?

The currentworkflow topichas three steps:

Connect - configure a browser or mobile device to use the AIQ HTTP proxy (port 9095 by default). Record - perform the actions you want to test while the proxy captures the traffic, and mark meaningful steps (for example, "Login" or "Purchase"). Analyze - save the captured traffic as a HAR script and generate reports to review it.

The saved HAR script is dividedthen intoused in a scenario as a performance or load test.

    Example

Suppose you want to load-test the followinglogin sections:flow of your mobile banking app. You connect your phone to the proxy, record yourself logging in, and AIQ captures all the HTTP requests. The captured traffic becomes a HAR script that you can replay with many virtual users to see how the server behaves under load.

    Prerequisites

An AIQ instance with the Traffic feature available under Record > Traffic. A browser or a mobile device (Android or iOS) that can be configured to use the proxy. The proxy port (9095 by default) reachable from the device. An SSL certificate installed on the device if you need to record HTTPS traffic.
