McAfee Performance Impact on AIQ for Windows

McAfee or other endpoint security tools can slow AIQ on Windows by scanning installation folders, browser assets, temporary execution files, logs, repositories, or Test Node working directories. Treat this as an endpoint-policy coordination issue, not a reason to disable security controls broadly.

Evidence to collect

  • AIQ operation affected: install, upgrade, startup, extraction, playback, or reporting.
  • Host details, AIQ version, Windows version, browser version, and Test Node role.
  • McAfee policy name, scan events, quarantine entries, and timestamps.
  • Comparison between affected and unaffected hosts, if available.

Resolution workflow

  1. Review AIQ logs and McAfee logs for matching timestamps.
  2. Ask IT/security to evaluate narrow path/process exclusions for approved AIQ directories.
  3. Retest the affected workflow after policy changes.
  4. Keep exclusions limited, documented, and reviewed during upgrades.
